Hello all! I am a very picky eater. Mostly, I'm picky about the texture of my food. Anyone else out there like this? Lol, occasionally, I wonder if it could be a bit of a blind thing.
Items like peppers, onions, and garlic; I like the flavor of them, but I don't want to feel them.
My friends and family know me well enough, if I ask is it "me friendly," they know what I mean. *Grin,* insert my name of course.
A friend of mine, whenever she goes to a restaurant that both our hometown have, she'll say, you should try this dish, there is nothing funky in it. And she is always right!
When I cook with things such as onions or peppers, I mostly use the dry seasoning, but sometimes I'll put the items in a mixer, so they get smoothe. This method has worked well for me with salsa. Salsa is so tasty, but it is usually chunky!
Oy, I wish I could be hipnotised or something to get over this texture thing. *lol!* It would really expand my food world!
I love learning new, simple recipes, but I almost always need to tweak them, so there are no bits!
*smile, thoughts?
I don't like bits either!!!
I love the flavor of peppers and onions, but not the chunks.
the only thing I can kind of relate to in this respect is pulp in my orange Juice[I want to drink my juice, not chew it!]
Totally agree with the last post. I never understood the aversion to certain textures in food, except that one.
I am the same way and it is not a blind thing with me since I use to be sighted. I have been like that since I can remember. This is one reason I cannot eat cooked veggies, soups, and salsa too. Oh, I also don't like most berries because of the seeds, ugh!
definitely not a blind thing. one of my best friends puts the ragout spaghetti sauce through a collander to get out all the bits. she hates onions or anything that goes crunch in the night.
Lol! Loved that first orange juice post! I'm the same way about orange juice; don't wanna chew it! Bleh! I can't stand runny things. I like my oatmeal kinda thick if I'm even going to eat it at all and chunky soups too. I hate eating chicken noodle soup and getting 90% juice and tiny bits of chicken and noodles. I also hate it when my cereal gets soggy and I hate itwhen people cook scrambled eggs and they're runny! Ew!!!! Guess I'm the opposite to most of y'all. My husband's pretty similar to you guys though. Likes his food with no chunks. Makes it hard to cookin our house.........
bleedin 'ell guys. hahaha yeah, so last poster has a chunky, non chunky meal with bits but no bits? na, levity aside, i can see what people are saying about orange juice, and pineapple juice also. now all the sedament at the bottom of long life cartons of pineapple juice is just so awful! even when you shake it up it does no bloody good!
Lol, glad this descussion came back to life!
That is funny about the pasta sauce. We use to use a colander as well, before I bought the bollet. So far so good, that thing has been brilliant! On the flip side, my mom has gone through 2 or 3 of them!
Ya know, I want to like chicken soup, but it isn't working for me. Campbell's and Swanson, they just don't taste that good. Lol, when I use to eat top roman, I'd drain nearly 100% of the liquid after it had all cooked. And when I eat tomato soup, it might as well be cracker soup for all the saltines I crunch in it.
I don't mind a bit of pulp in my orange juice, but my gall, I have seen some where you might as well grab a spoon! Gross!
It is amazing what you can blender smoothe. I bought a can of those rotell tomatoes, with the chilis and such, tossed them inside the bullet and it came out liquid! Same thing when my mom put chopped up onion in it!
Next time I make burgers, I want to try the liquid onion with them. Maybe it'll help make them more flavorful and not dry them out. Season salt, onion, and Mrs. Dash are my standby seasonings.
so you like the bullet? one of those tv things I always wanted to buy.
i hate broth as well. love it in stuff but do not enjoy drinking it at all.
cooked spinach has the nastiest texture for me. i love it in lasagna or noodles or quiche or raw on a salad. cooked by itself to me it feels and smells like vomit. i'm feeling sick just writing bout this!!!!
I very much agree on the cooked spinach front, horrible texture. Leafy in a salad, no problem, but not cooked. I often wonder if this is caused by my being forced to eat it as a small child. The other food that I have an aversion to do to its texture is hard boiled eggs. I love scrambled eggs and omletts and almost everything else egg related, but just can not stomach a hard boiled egg.
Hehehehehe, hard-boiled eggs feel cool, but I wouldn't want it in my mouth! No thanks!
Yep, I've been happy with the bullet. I've had it for a long time now. I don't use it daily though.
Lol, not sure what my mom did to have 2 brake on her.
I'm still tempted by a food processor, but I'm concerned about the clean up. Sounds like a pain!
it is crazy but I am just like brandi...I hate anything runny, watery, or creamy...I don't like cakes with cream in the middle, I don't like danishes the only thing I can stomach for some odd reason is twinkies...slimy eggs ug...watery oatmeal makes me queasy...pudding! the worst
